At Talking SENse! We work with many families to help get their children the support they deserve. It is always fantastic to achieve the outcome that families need as our clients, Craig and Louise Field, explain: “Talking SENse! was recommended to me by a friend at a time when I really needed support and professional guidance. My son is now 10 years old and has been in an independent specialist school since March 2020, thanks to Ken Upton and his team. I always knew my son needed specialist provision since he started mainstream reception. Ryan was diagnosed with ASD at the age of three, but when he started reception, I saw the struggles he was having. I stated my concerns to school, but to no avail. I fought for extra support and fought and fought with the school and local authority professionals, I was at my wits end. Every day at school was a battle for Ryan, and it was so upsetting to see the struggles he was having, and yet no one was supporting him or helping him. Then we met Ken. It was another battle with going to tribunal and appealing etc but knowing we had Ken and his team behind us, gave us the strength to keep going. Ken managed to secure a legally binding, specific and quantified EHC plan for Ryan and secured the independent specialist school we wanted. 9 months at the school and Ryan has made so much progress, has a lovely group of friends and is generally so much happier. He loves attending school and wants to go everyday now. What a turnaround from the 8year old child telling me he hates his life and wants to end it. So, Ken and his team, not only supported us and helped us, but they also actually saved us as a family. We cannot thank Talking SENse! enough.” Craig & Louise Field

It’s my continued honour to serve as Chair of Trustees for this wonderful organisation. I want to take time to recognise what an absolutely difficult year it has been for both the general population fighting the pandemic, and families of children with SEND fighting the system on top of this. Thank you Ken and Rachel for working tirelessly to support parents in securing their children’s entitlement under enormous pressure. You are inspirational in my eyes. On behalf of the team at Talking SENse!, I wish parents, children, partners, supporters and followers, a safe and Happy Christmas. Here’s hoping for a better, kinder, and healthier 2021. With best wishes, Sylvia Stanway
I am truly grateful to Talking SENse! for meeting with me ‘out-of-hours’ both at home and at times at my place of work. As a working mum this service has been invaluable to me. I’ll certainly be recommending you to other parents at my son’s school
I recommend everyone to use Talking SENse! as I want people to have the close support we did. Families need one to one. They need fully trained and up-to-date services that not only advise but advocate too. An independent service is imperative to gain the knowledge a family needs to get exactly the provisions their child is entitled too. Talking SENse! is run by a man, and his committee who go above and beyond their job title.
Thank you so much Ken and Talking SENse for your time and patience! Because my reading and writing my not be right, you helped me write my reports for the assessment and statement process for my son. I will definitely be in touch when I get the draft statement and have already recommended your service to my friends.
